Veselka is the Ukrainian word for “rainbow”. And just like a rainbow shows off many different colours, the Veselka Dance Ensemble, through the performance of various traditional and contemporary dances, shows off the vibrant and colourful culture of Ukraine.

Next year, in 2027, Veselka will be celebrating 75 years!

The Ensemble was established in 1952 under the name “The Ukrainian National Ballet” by Natalia Tyrawski, Veselka’s first artistic director and choreographer, and in 1966, began performing under the name “Veselka”.

Now, Veselka is comprised of young and up and coming talent, as well as experienced dancers continuing the traditions of their heritage. All the performers are passionate about Ukrainian dance and dedicate themselves to their love of dancing through hard work and devotion.
