Ukrainian choir ‘Chornobryvtsi (Marigolds)’ leaded by the talented conductor and musician Mykola Havryliuk showcases that Ukrainians are the singing nation. In Ukraine singing accompanies every aspect of life—celebrations, work, love, sorrow, and resistance. It’s common to sing at various community and family gatherings like weddings, birthday parties, community events. Music is not just an art form in Ukraine—it is a living expression of the nation’s soul.

The Choir ‘Chornobryvtsi’ is young, was created 18 months ago. It unites Ukrainian refugees who share a deep love for singing Ukrainian folk songs. It not only offers them a chance to socialize and build a sense of community in a new country but also helps preserve and celebrate Ukrainian traditions through music. By coming together in song, members find comfort, strength, and a way to begin healing from the trauma of displacement, while keeping their cultural heritage alive for future generations.
