The Lehenda School, established in 2014 alongside the Lehenda Ukrainian Dance Company, has become a vibrant educational cornerstone in Melbourne’s cultural landscape, nurturing technical excellence, cultural identity, and artistic expression through Ukrainian dance and ballet. From its early beginnings, the school has formed the essential training ground for young dancers, providing a strong foundation in Ukrainian dance technique, classical ballet and performance skills guided by passionate and experienced teachers.
Annually, Lehenda runs a National Winter School, this year celebrated as the ‘Lehenda Winter Festival’ setting the stage for an immersive training tradition that continues to attract students and teachers keen to deepen their understanding of Ukrainian dance. Running from 4-11 July the festival will include classes for students aged 8+ and teacher workshops delivered by the Lehenda School teachers, and this year the special Virsky Forever Masterclass run by Maksym and Viktoriia Karapenko.
The Lehenda School proudly loves performing for our Australian and Ukrainian communities, as well as sharing our passion for dance and culture at festivals such as MOOMBA and PakoFesta, as well concerts, and special events throughout the year.
